IdentAlloy Expands to Ceramic Materials
June 15, 2007
For Immediate release
Since 1985 The IdentAlloy Council has been raising health standards by providing documentation of the content of alloys used in dental restorations. Material developments in recent years have fueled an increasing number of alternatives to alloys for the fabrication of fixed and removable prosthetics especially in the area of Ceramics.
In response to the market tends the IdentAlloy Council has formed a new division IdentCeram. The IdentCeram division of the IdentAlloy Council will offer certificates documenting the use of Zirconia and Al Oxide based substructure materials along with certificates for Feldspathic Ceramics. All companies manufacturing and supplying these type products to the USA and Canadian Markets are invited to participate by becoming licensees of the IdentAlloy Council.
The IdentCeram program will operate in the same manner as the current IdentAlloy program. Licensees joining IdentCeram will obtain two part certificates from IdentCeram and supply them to dental laboratories using the manufacturers product. Laboratories will retain one copy of the certificate with their case files and send the second part to the prescribing dentist for retention with the patient files. Being certain of the material in a prosthetic restoration is extremely valuable in future treatment planning/decisions as well as documenting insurance claims. There is no cost to laboratories or dentists to participate in the IdentAlloy programs.
The IdentAlloy Council announces that imagen located in Irwin PA has joined the IdentAlloy Council.
May 15, 2007
For Immediate release
The IdentAlloy Council announces that imagen located in Irwin PA has joined the IdentAlloy Council. Imagen is one of three EX ONE companies that use the M.I.T. 3D Printing Technology to fabricate objects from digital data. The imagen process directly converts digital scan data into high noble metal components by combining multiple layers of particulate material using a specialized inkjet printing process to form dental copings. The imagen 3D Printing process can make dental prosthetics of varying complexity and material composition. As an authorized licensee imagen will supply its North American clients with IdentAlloy certificates for restorations made using their HNB alloy, thus allowing clients to disclose and document the material used in each case.
In making the announcement Chuck Yenkner, IdentAlloy Executive Director said: “The alloy market is changing in terms of the variety of alloy products used in the producing dental restorations. IdentAlloy will grow and expand as required to accommodate new materials as they come on the market. We are pleased to welcome imagen to the IdentAlloy council.”
According to Ex One President and COO, David J. Burns, “joining the IdentAlloy Council helps demonstrate our continuous commitment to manufacturing innovation and excellence. We are pleased that imagen products will carry the IdentAlloy trademark.”
As the only true gold CAD/CAM system, the imagen process brings together leading technologies to enable dental labs to obtain consistent output and superior performing copings. The process ensures precise, uniform features, bright gold luster and a digital case history.
IdentAlloy Expansion - Identceram Division
The subject of expanding the IdentAlloy Council activities to the documentation of other materials has been a topic of discussion for several years. Based on the discussions at the Jan 2006 Board Meeting I was directed to formally explore the possibilities, potential & costs of expanding the IdentAlloy program to cover ceramic materials used in dentistry. At the Jan 2007 meeting I reported interest on the part of several companies to participate including several who are not currently IdentAlloy Licensees and the tentative support of the ADA. Based on my findings the board decided to pursue expansion into the area of ceramic materials.
I am therefore pleased to announce the formation of the Identceram division of The IdentAlloy Council. Our intention is to offer certificates covering Zirconia and Al Oxide based substructure materials along with certificates for Feldspathic Ceramics. All companies manufacturing and supplying these type products to the USA and Canadian Markets will be invited to participate by becoming Licensees of the Council. Current IdentAlloy Licensees are or course eligible to participate simply by submitting material specs and purchasing certificates. Companies who are not currently Licensees, in addition to submitting specs will need to pay the standard initiation fee. Due to program start up costs, Identceram certificates will cost $22.50/1000, slightly more than the cost of standard IdentAlloy certificates. I would like to give our current Licensees the first opportunity to participate before soliciting new companies who are not presently licensees.
The IdentCeram program will work the same as IdentAlloy. Manufacturers will purchase certificates and include them with shipments of the referenced material. Labs will keep 1 part for the cert with their in lab paperwork and send the other part to with the invoice to the Dentist who retains it in the patient records. I have attached a copy of the Identceram certificate for YZ.
Given the increasing number of manufacturers offering these products, and their growing popularity, IdentAlloy’s proven ability to document and communicate the material content of restorations to Dentists and patients will contribute to raising health care standards just as it has for Alloy based restorations since 1985. It is hoped that the expansion will help hold costs down for all Council Licensees by generating increased certificate volumes and create synergies to continue the increasing awareness and application of the IdentAlloy program
For manufacturers the program offers a way to drive product recognition, and security from Lab to Dentist to Patient.
I would be pleased to speak with any of you or other staff at your company regarding our plans. If you currently market Ceramic products I hope you will consider participation in the Identceram Division of the IdentAlloy Council.
